Hey,
My name is Matthew Cullis, and I’m an IT engineer. Living in North Canberra, I support local small and medium businesses with their IT needs so they can focus on their business. I am also an urbanist and am active with Living Streets Canberra. It is important to me that all urbanites can move about their city with ease and not be restricted to only a single for of transport.
Well, you already know my name, I should probably talk a little bit about me.
I wear quite a few hats, so I am going to list them out and then elaborate more. I live in Canberra, and I work in the IT industry, a little bit of a nerd, a bit of an urbanist and a casual photographer.
IT has always been something I had high interest in, but have struggled to work out where I was going in life on that path until about 5 years ago. At the time I was working in retail and started to attend Canberra Institute of Technology to complete some TAFE certificates in the field. Today, I am working for a small managed service provider based in Canberra, serving a range of clients across Australia.
What exactly does my role involved? Well, a range of things. Aside from your standard service desk work, I am managing networks and Entra environments for our clients. I am also providing them with advice regarding their environments, especially around risks.
I have been into urbanism for a while now. I have always been a public transport user, and I have always preferred living in apartments. But somethings in Canberra just didn’t seem quite right. I ended up deep in YouTube urbanism. This led me to being more informed, especially around transport and our issues with private cars. Today I am a member of Living Streets Canberra and we currently meet fortnightly. You can visit our website to see what we are up to here.
I am also a casual photographer, but lately I haven’t been as active in this space. I hope this will change soon. I am in this space of lots of different photos, but I do take quite a lot of bird photos. My partner loves birds, and I quite enjoy their nature.
